Tetra World Congress 2009: “TETRA: An Evolving Solution”

TETRA World Congress, the world’s largest TETRA conference and exhibition, was held in Munich on 26–29 May. The Congress, the year’s largest gathering of TETRA users, suppliers and developers, was a great success.

"It has been an outstandingly successful week despite the economic climate, and has shown the solid strength of the TETRA market", said IIR event director, Tom Davies.

This year, the Congress was attended by over 2500 members, from more than 70 different countries, who were keen to discuss the latest developments and future requirements of TETRA. Over 100 leading suppliers participated in the TWC Exhibition.

Net Technologies was, of course, present and our booth was popular with people wanting to discuss the future of mission critical communications. Every visitor to our booth received a bag of basil seeds representing our corporate values of ecological and sustainable development in business and in life. Net Technologies presented its TETRA solutions in detail on the third day of the conference, showcasing all its mission critical communications services, from planning to drive tests and optimisation packages. Over four successful days, we also had the opportunity to meet our colleagues from the TETRA industry and to share knowledge and ideas in the many seminars and workshops on offer.

The theme of this year’s Congress was “TETRA: An Evolving Solution”: The TETRA Release 2 standard is now complete and wideband spectrum decisions for TETRA Enhanced Data Service (TEDS) have now been made in Europe. The next evolution of the TETRA Standard—which is designed to provide broadband services such as mobile video for users demanding mission-critical delivery—is currently being specified by the ETSI TETRA Technical Committee (TC TETRA). Of course, the Congress also allowed the TETRA Association to make presentations and to gather valuable information from the market, with participants answered questions about the future of TETRA, such as “What other networks should TETRA interface to?”, or “In the next evolution of TETRA, what is the most important functionality that it should include?”.

The 12th annual TETRA World Congress will convene at the Syntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 25-28, 2010.
Net Technologies will once again be present at the biggest and most important TETRA event of the year! See you all there!
