WiMAX – Mobilizing the Wireless Broadband

Net Technologies and EB organized a seminar with a title WiMAX - Mobilizing the Wireless Broadband in Park Hotel, Athens. The event was a tremendous success bringing together the telecom industry of Greece and the top research organizations and universities.“We are extremely happy with the success of the event. The fact that we were fully booked well before the event, highlights how hot topic WiMAX is currently in Greece. We believe that due to the geographical aspects WiMAX will be extremely important technology in Greece and will play the key role in helping Greece to finally reach its European peers in Internet usage and the speed of connection. We also proposed a joint measurement campaign for creating radio channel models for Greek environment. Our initiative received enthusiastic response and we continue working on this project”, states Dimitris Androutsopoulos, CEO of Net Technologies.

Seminar topics covered the latest developments in WiMAX standard, technologies and deployment:

-WiMAX: Opportunities & Challenges
(Gregory S. Yovanof, Professor - AIT).

-The WiMAX radio channel in the challenging Mediterranean environment
(Jukka-Pekka Nuutinen, EB).

-Mobile WiMAX
(Athanasios Kanatas, Professor - University of Piraeus).

-Telsima's experience with large scale WiMAX deployments in the Indian market
(Bojan Likar, Telsima).

-WiMAX is here! Meet the testing requirements set by the new technology
(Janne Kolu, EB).

-How can we get more out of WiMAX? Proposal for joint measurement campaign
(Dimitris Androutsopoulos, Net Technologies).

During the event, the audience also had the unique opportunity to see live demonstration of EB Propsim Radio Channel Emulators C8, C2 and FE. EB’s radio channel emulators are tools for air interface testing, replacing the real-world radio channel between a transmitter and a receiver and providing realistic radio channel emulation in the lab for all current and future wireless communication technologies.

EB Propsim radio channel emulators are used for a wide variety of testing such as:
-Comparison of different terminals and base station equipment before introducing them to the field.
-Optimization of network performance.
-Verification of functionality and performance of the design / product (e.g. terminals, chipsets).
-Multi-antenna application and software defined radio testing.
-Testing wireless communication between car and infrastructure.
-Research for the effects of air interface to new technologies and emerging standards.

Our next event is on 19th November 2008 in Divani Caravel, Athens Greece about TETRA technology. Please let us know if you wish to attend the event: marketing@nettechn.com
